The Cloth Diaper Saga- Oh Katy!

As if I didn't have enough diapers....

I am on an email list for a website that has awesome savings on cloth diapers, diaper soap, and other eco- friendly baby products at Green Baby Bargains.  A few weeks ago they had Oh Katy cloth diapers for sale for $10.50 a piece.  There were some good reviews out there for Oh Katy diapers and $10.50 for a cloth diaper is a great deal, so I had to order two!

Below is my review of the new Oh Katy diapers.

Above are the inserts for the diapers.  Each diaper came with one newborn insert (left) and one infant insert (right).  The one on the far right is snapped to be smaller for a smaller infant.  That is actually the size Catie Grace is at right now.

The inserts are soft and remind me of Fuzzibunz inserts. Thumbs up!

These are the two colors I picked! How fun!

Here is a close-up of the outside of the diaper.  These diapers are pocket diapers so I stuffed the inserts (from the first picture) into the diaper (pictured here).  These diapers have snaps like the BumGenius 4.0 and Fuzzibunz.  These also come with an extra newborn snap that seemed like a great idea.

These diapers are really cute and seem very well thought out. I put them to the ultimate test first thing- I doubled up the inserts and put them on Catie Grace's little bum for 12 hours as she slumbered away.  They didn't leak and the inserts weren't even completely soaked through.  They did well.

She has worn them a few other times and we haven't had any leaks or incidences.  I am giving the Oh Katy brand two thumbs up for these diapers with the exception of two itty bitty things:

1. On the Oh Katy diapers, you stuff the diaper from the opposite side that you do with all other pocket diapers I have.  So, if I am using the diaper sprayer, I always hold diapers in the back, spray them, and pull the insert out from the back.  That way, my hands stay dry.  The Oh Katy diapers are opposite, so when I used the diaper sprayer on them, I found myself having to remove the insert from the soaking wet side.  Yuck!  Really this is just remembering that they are opposite and not spraying the wrong way.

2. When they diapers are snapped to make the rise less (making it not as long), they pooch out in the front making it look like.. well... like there's a little more in that diaper than a little GIRL should have.  I don't think it's noticeable in clothes, but Gerry and I had a good laugh out of it.  Once Catie Grace grows a little more and we don't have to use the snap downs, that won't be an issue anymore.

So that's pretty much it.  The Oh Katy diapers are working for us. If you happen to see these on sale, I'd grab them up quickly.  I think they are a great addition to our diaper stash.  How cute are those colors anyway?

And of course- Our little stinker in her fluff.

 Happy diapering!
