Surprise! You're Gonna be Grandparents!

When Gerry and I first found out we were expecting, we told our parents and siblings immediately, but we wanted to wait until my 8 week ultrasound to tell everyone else. Keep in mind that we were not even 4 weeks pregnant when we found out, and a month is FOREVER to wait on such big news!

We took my parents to dinner and told them by giving them presents. For my dad, we gave him a picture frame with the following poem in it:

I do not have a face to see,
or put inside a frame.
I do not have soft cheeks to kiss;
I don't yet have a name.
You can't hold my tiny hands,
nor whisper in my ear.
It's still too soon to sing a song,
or cuddle me so near.
But all will change come November 19th,
when they say I'm due.
I'm your new grandson or granddaughter;
I can't wait till I meet you.
All I ask between now and then
is your patience while I grow.
I promise I'll be worth the wait,
because of all the love we'll know.
So as you're waiting patiently,
please pray lots of prayers for me.
I cannot wait to be a part
of this wonderful family!

My mom has collected Snowbabies figurines since I can remember, so we got her this Snowbabies figurine to let her know the good news. The name of this Snowbaby is "Welcome, Little Star."

To tell Gerry's mom, we bought her a book entitled "The Gifts of Being Grand." Gerry wrote a note in the book for his mom to let her know the meaning of this special book!
